So, my promise to myself is to update my blog more than once every two weeks. I always struggle to find something "blog worthy" going on, which isn't much...work, school, sleep. That's about all that happens around here, but then it hit me that I need to share more of Ben's "funnies" with everyone.
Ben can be so hysterically funny sometimes that he makes everyone within earshot crack up. That said, it is almost always unintentional. We have had a few giggles this week that I'm sure you all will enjoy.
1. We went to the Opthamologist this week and he put these goofy little glasses on Ben. These glasses had one green lens and one red lens, then he (the doc) stood back and held a special flashlight up and asked Ben how many lights he saw and Ben replied "Zero". The doctor kept trying and Ben kept replying "Zero". Then Ben said "Hey I have a idea....you should turn it on". The batteries had run out. The doctor looked at me and we both looked at the flashlight then burst out laughing.
2. After the doctor's appointment we went to Big Truck Taco's in OKC to eat dinner and we sat at a counter area right next to the front door. As you walk in, there are menu's on that same counter for the customer to grab and look at while they are in line to order. A couple of guys walked in and grabbed up a couple of menus and Ben yelled "NO", at the top of his lungs and then said "You do NOT take things off of someones table". The guy was shocked, then said he was sorry, and put it back. I, of course, took care of it and as inappropriate as it was, it was pretty funny.
3. Today, we went to get his glasses from the optical. We looked at the bands that kids wear to keep their glasses pulled up on their nose. Ben had been carrying one he picked out around, we were sized and ordered. We went home to do some things around the house while we waited on his glasses. So this afternoon, we picked his glasses up and the lady gave him a band to put on his glasses and we left. We left the house again a little while later to run to the convenience store and Ben said "Now I have two of these mom!" and held up the band he had picked out earlier while the other was on his glasses. I gasped and said "BEN! You stole that?!?" I turned around and looked at him (I had parked in the parking lot at this point) and he got this TERRIFIED look on his face and said "NO, NO NO NO, MOMMA, NO NO NO!" at which point he threw the package at me and kept yelling "NO" at me. He unbuckled his seat belt and jumped up and grabbed my face from the side and said "MOM LISTEN TO ME, I AM SORRY, MOMMA. I AM SO SO SORRY. Please mommy. I am sorry, I didn't mean too". I was trying to hold back my laughter and my face was turning red and I covered my mouth. Ben stopped and looked at me and said "Are you just kidding?". I told him I thought his reaction was funny but stealing wasn't...then proceeded with the typical mom's stealing speech. I told him we'd have to take it back and he said "Mommy, PLEASE tell them I didn't mean too".
I know it seems mean that I was laughing, but he just caught me off guard with his thievery! :) He understands it was wrong and the poor baby did it on accident. By the way, we left the convenience store where he got his pull apart licorice and as we walked out the door he said loudly "I didn't stole this, mommy".
That's my nephew! There should be a book called Bennerisims - I will illustrate. ;) Great blog!
