I started to type "It's been a long time..." but I think I start every blog out that way. HA! So, I have to do better at keeping up. Just trying to finish out the school year for both Ben and I, we have a horse show with Ben's therapy riding group and some serious spring cleaning to do!! Phew. My cup runneth over...and over and over....
So starts the summer season! My son hates the sun and he also informed me tonight that he hates the rain. Great. So now he's going to just be a vampire I suppose. Though this weekend we went to visit family and he actually got outside and played. He ran around the giant yard from front to back and side to side just playing like a little boy does. It was awesome to see, he hasn't done that since he was pretty little. The thing about Ben is he concerns himself with so many adult details that he shouldn't. For instance, he thinks he should sit in the middle of the back seat because (and this is a direct quote from Ben) "if someone crashes us on the side, then I won't get hurt". We have this conversation frequently. He has never been a "danger" kid though he is very impulsive (he will just run out into the parking lot with no sense of danger as to whether or not cars are coming). So you can see why I get excited when he just plays like a kid should. I don't want him to have all these worries and concerns and anxieties at the age of 7. It actually breaks my heart. I want him to plays swords or play on the monkey bars (he once told me he was afraid he was going to fall off and get hurt and hasn't tried them since).
My goal this summer is to get his booty out and make dirty little boy activities happen in his life. I want him to live his life at his age and not at mine!! There is plenty of time to worry about things that are out of our control when we're older. My other goal - to get my son to stick his head under water!! He is enrolled in three sessions back to back for swim lessons. Wish me luck!!
Ok, so one thing Ben is SUPER excited about...being a COUSIN! He is so excited to have his new cousin Ethan here! Though he does have a lot of anxieties on Ethan's behalf ("what if he falls out of the crib", being the most prominent). Gotta love my sweet boy. :) I do!!
You tell him, Hutch will not fall out of the crib because he will be busy being fed by his baby bullet, and hanging out on the couch with his cousin Benjamin as promised. :) I can't wait for them to meet!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear he is enjoying his life as a 7 yo should. He is the best nephew ever and has taught me so much about understanding and patience. Give him my over sister. You are doing a great job raising him.
